Today, George Eustice MP has welcomed £2.5 million of additional investment to repair potholes in Cornwall. This will fix an estimated 50,000 potholes, following the recent winter storms that caused considerable damage on our roads.
A total of £100M is being distributed to councils in England. This is in addition to the £75 million allocated to councils from the Pothole Action Fund this year, as well as the additional £46 million boost for highways authorities announced at the end of last year.
George Eustice said “I am pleased that the Government has committed to investing an additional £2.5 million here in Cornwall to repair potholes. Recent storms have taken their toll on our local roads, so this is very welcome news.
“I am also glad that funding has been confirmed to repair the road at the Ferry Boat Inn, Helford Passage. I have spoken to Cornwall Council about the urgent road repairs required, to make sure that they are carried out as quickly as possible.”
