Speaking in last week's debate in Parliament on the indicative votes that are taking place, George presented his amendment for the UK to join the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). Under this amendment the UK would be out of the Customs Union and have an independent trade policy, but part of a ready-made comprehensive free trade agreement with the EU. We would have an independent agriculture and fisheries policy. There would be no need for a two year “implementation period”, and it would deliver on the referendum result.
