George Eustice, MP for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle has today welcomed the news that fourteen additional rail services from Plymouth and Penzance will be introduced on Monday 20th May.
The news came as network rail confirmed plans that they would also be introducing new longer trains amounting to an additional 4,200 seats every weekday, with further increases over the summer.
George said, "We all know how important the railways are to getting people to and from their destinations in Cornwall. There have been major improvements to the rail infrastructure in Cornwall, but we must continue to work hard to deliver the best possible service for all passengers. The additional seats will mean that more passengers can travel to and from Cornwall and this is welcome news."
