George Eustice, Member of Parliament for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle has today unveiled the Treswithian Downs Crematorium Covid-19 Memorial dedicated to those affected by the Pandemic.
Treswithian Downs Crematorium, part of the Westerleigh Group of Crematoriums across the Country, has provided a Covid 19 memorial having launched a design competition asking members of the public to create an emblem. The South West regional winner was Jake Install whose inspirational drawing is featured on this memorial.
The last eighteen months have been particularly difficult for everyone as they struggle to come to terms with a virus that has impacted on all their lives. As a community and individually people have pulled together, working hard to provide essential services as well as having to adapt to a new lifestyle. This has sometimes involved working from home but has also curtailed people’s activities such as travel, attending events and social celebrations.
Following the service and the unveiling of the memorial, George commented, “The last 18 months have been particularly difficult for many in our community. As such, it is important we all take time to reflect and remember those who have lost loved ones or those who have had their lives that have been forever altered by this virus.
“It was a privilege to be able to visit the Treswithian Downs Crematorium, recently, and unveil their new memorial which will commemorate those who have been impacted by the Covid-19 Pandemic.”
