George Eustice, Member of Parliament for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle, has recently visited Pool Academy to meet with the new Headmaster, Nick Ward, and a group of students to answer their questions.
The students asked questions on a variety of topics including tackling climate change, housing, levelling up and jobs for young people.
Mr Eustice regularly visits the school across the Camborne and Redruth constituency to hear updates about their progress and offer his help resolving any issues or difficulties.
Following his visit, George commented, “When I was growing up, companies like Holmans were world-beating and employed hundreds of people. But the closure of Holemans and mines like South Crofty was a massive blow of confidence.
“I was lucky enough to be part of one of the last generations that could afford to buy a home while in my early 20s. However, this is sadly not the case for many in Cornwall today. I firmly believe this needs to change.
“The generation of children in school now care deeply about issues like housing and climate change so we must deliver for them so they can have the opportunity to live in the towns and villages that they grew up in later in life.”
