George Eustice, Member of Parliament for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle has welcomed the news that £81,615 has been awarded to organisations in the constituency over the last month by The National Lottery Community Fund to help tackle loneliness and isolation.
One of the charities to benefit from this increase of funding was Camborne Day Centre with the funding being used to deliver a large scale mutual aid service for older people, including providing food parcels, essentials delivery and befriending services. The project works to tackle social isolation among older people in Camborne, Cornwall. The funding was recently announced as part of the campaign to tackle loneliness and isolation during the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic.
George commented, "The National Lottery Community Fund has been working hard throughout the Coronavirus outbreak to support those who are vulnerable and in need of assistance. It is very welcome that £81,615 has already been awarded to organisations across Camborne, Redruth and Hayle, which will have an enormous effect on those who need this the most. We all have a role to play in addressing loneliness, especially at this difficult time, whether that is picking up the phone and calling others, or making sure that our neighbours and friends have the resources that they need."
