George Eustice recently welcomed Liz Truss, Chief Secretary to the Treasury to Cornwall. It was a busy day, and one of the highlights was a visit to the Agile on the Beach Conference at Falmouth University.
The conference is an annual event that comes together to celebrate all the great work that is going on in Cornwall around the computer software industry. Agile on the Beach has been judged to be among the top three events for software technologies in the world showing just how important it is to businesses and companies. Over the last few years the computer software industry in Cornwall has grown exponentially attracting businesses and talented individuals to Cornwall.
"Agile" is a new management concept which can be applied to many disciplines including even in financial management but is especially used in software development. It is about removing rigid processes, targets and management plans and replacing them with something more flexible, holistic and iterative so that complex challenges can be overcome by natural adaptation.
George said, "it was great to have Liz down in Cornwall and show her the great work that is being done around Computer software technologies. Cornwall really is leading the way in this sector and has become a huge magnet for jobs and businesses. A recent national study identified Camborne and Redruth as one of the fastest growing computer software clusters in the country with huge growth in jobs and turnover showing just how vital this sector is to our local economy.
