This week saw a showcase of Protected Food Name products in Parliament. There are over 80 foods which enjoy protection under the PDO, PGI and TSG schemes at present, including the Cornish Pasty, Cornish Clotted Cream, Fal Oyster and Cornish Sardines. Protected status helps to ensure that these foods cannot be copied.
George said “It was great to see Rodda’s cream, the Cornish pasty and Cornish oysters represented at an event organised by the UK Protected Food Name Association. I am clear that these foods will retain their protected status when we leave the EU”.
