George Eustice, MP for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle, has today welcomed the news that schools across the constituency have continued to improve with many seeing an increase in the proportion of pupils achieving the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics last year.
Thanks to the hard work of teachers and pupils, the national average has increased to 65% this year. This year’s results are the fourth since the Government introduced more rigorous assessments to align with the new national curriculum in 2016, which has brought England’s primary education in line with the best in the world. Each year, more children are meeting the high expectations it sets.
George said, "This is great news for children and parents across the constituency and shows the great improvements that our schools are making. With some schools experiencing a jump of over 40% it is clear that children are benefiting from the fantastic teaching they receive. I would also like to congratulate all the staff and teachers who work so hard to inspire the next generation and who constantly strive to achieve more for those they teach."
