George Eustice, MP for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle, recently visited Hayle Surf Lifesaving Club to hear about the work they carry out to help keep people safe. In January 2019, search and rescue teams across Cornwall were awarded grants from the Department for Transport as part of the Rescue Boat Grant Fund.
The Hayle Surf Lifesaving Club in Hayle received almost £20,000 contributed towards a new 4x4 recovery ATV, a surf rescue boat, a new engine and also a radio. Grants like the Rescue Boat Grant Fund provide vital resources to charities across the country helping them continue the great work they do all year round.
George said, "Life saving charities across the country carry out a vital role in protecting those who use our beaches and waters. The volunteers and staff at Hayle Surf Lifesaving Club do a fantastic job especially during the busier summer times, and the recent funding boost will help the Club continue to provide a great service. I would also like to thank the many great volunteers and staff who do so much to keep us safe all year round."
