Ben Gummer MP, Minister for Care Quality, visited St Julia's Hospice on 15th February. The Minister met with senior staff, including Paul Brinsley (Chief Executive), Sam Pleasants (Ward Sister), Dr Debbie Stevens (Medical Director), Dawn Tame-Battell (Director of Patient Services) and Lesley Ross (Chair of Trustees).
The Minister was given a private tour of the care facilities and he met several patients. Staff had the opportunity to discuss how St Julia's can work more effectively with the NHS community and hospital teams. Integrated working in end of life care across Cornwall will ensure a seamless journey for patients who require specialist end of life support.
George Eustice praised the work of Cornwall Hospice Care. He said that "the work of Cornwall Hospice Care has touched thousands of families in Cornwall. Ensuring that patients can access the care they need in the reassuring surroundings of a local hospice, such as St Julia's, is essential".
