George was in Redruth last Saturday, and has praised the St Piran’s Day celebrations which took place there last weekend, believing the event’s popularity signals a rejuvenated interest in Cornwall’s culture, and history.
George said “The St Piran’s Day celebrations in Redruth goes from strength to strength every year, and it was great to see the streets packed with local people, enjoying the parade. Over the last few years we have seen a growing interest in Cornwall’s history and culture. Redruth, home to most of the 6 million people who make up the world-wide Cornish diaspora, is right at the heart of this revival, and will soon be home to Cornwall's National Archive Centre which is currently under construction.”
