George Eustice, Member of Parliament for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle has welcomed the news that the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have suspended the majority of deductions on Universal Credit (UC) payments, including the recovery of overpayments, Social Fund loans and Tax Credit debts to support claimants through these challenging times and enable staff to be redeployed to process new claims.
Currently, repayment of advances, fraud penalties and sanctions are continuing. Anyone experiencing financial difficulty should contact their case manager via their journal to discuss what options are available to them. The DWP have also announced people making new claims for UC will no longer need to call the department as part of the process, instead claimants will be contacted via their journal and only called by the DWP if any information needs to be checked.
For anyone unable to get online you can still call the department as normal.
My office remains open to assist those who are experiencing difficulties with their Universal Credit and can be contacted via email at [email protected]. Please include your full name, address and National Insurance number along with a summary of your situation when contacting my office so that we can ensure that you receive the right response.
