Local MP George Eustice and Council candidate John Bastin visited Lamanva Training earlier this week to learn more about the work that the Penryn based firm has been doing to provide training and develop skills with the next generation of construction engineers and plant operators.
Lamanva Training was founded by father and son Richard and Jamie Mann. Richard Mann had a lifetime's experience in the plant hire industry while his son, Jamie, had been in the army for nine years as an engineer and then as an instructor. On returning to the plant hire business, Jamie built a new venture using the plant from the family business and the skills he developed in the army to provide instruction to new trainees from across Cornwall.
Today the business runs courses in everything from large and small excavation equipment, dumper truck handling and operating large telescopic fork life equipment used commonly in building sites around Cornwall.
George Eustice said, "There are many job opportunities in the construction and plant hire industry and it is great to see a local firm leading the way in providing the training and the skills needed for those who want to take up a role operating this equipment."
