George Eustice recently met with fishermen and local Conservative candidate Derek Thomas at Newlyn, to discuss the future of the fishing industry.
The Conservative manifesto is clear that a new Conservative government will work with the fishing industry to introduce a new regime for commercial fishing that will preserve and increase fish stocks and help ensure prosperity for a new generation of fishermen. It also states that we will withdraw from the London Fisheries Convention.
George Eustice said "We have got a fantastic opportunity for our fishing industry and it is good news that we will be withdrawing from the London Fisheries Convention. We have an opportunity to ensure our fishermen get a fairer share of quotas, to look at the issue of access, and to deliver more sustainable fishing policies."
