George Eustice, Member of Parliament for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle has today welcomed the news that the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health Jo Churchill MP has secured agreement from HM Treasury to scrap VAT on PPE for care homes and others during the COVID-19 crisis.
The changes came into effect on 1st May and will see a change to UK VAT law to introduce a temporary VAT zero rate for the period of 1 May to 31 July. This VAT exemption will cover the supply of PPE for use in connection with protection from infection with coronavirus.
George said, "It is welcome that the Department for Health is listening to the challenges that the care sector is experiencing and responded accordingly. Whilst this is a small step it helps support these businesses at what is a difficult time for many. I will continue to work closely with care providers across my constituency to ensure that they continue to be supported."
