George Eustice, Member of Parliament for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle has today welcomed the step forward in plans to improve Hayle Roundabout. As part of the Government’s commitment to level up our towns and build better infrastructure, the project has managed to secure £12.9 million funding boost from Homes England.
The extra boost to funding will be used to improve the layout of the junction to help ease congestion and cater for future housing and economic growth in the local area.
With this funding now secured the team can work on initial designs as well as engaging with landowners. It is likely that the layout of the junction will look very different to the current roundabout, with lanes running through the centre to prioritise A30 traffic and signals directing vehicles to the adjoining local roads.
Public consultation is planned for next year with the final design reflecting feedback received. Construction is expected to begin in late 2022 and the project completed in 2024.
George commented: “12.9million in extra funding for Loggans Roundabout is welcome news. The performance of the roundabout at Hayle has been a local issue for some time, and I am pleased to see that progress is being made by both Cornwall Council and Highways England which will be good news for many local residents.”
